It may not look like it, but trust me, it is worth the bumpy, rough, dirt and gravel road excursion to see. Just a half a mile off of Route 66 on the Ozark Trail (the original Route 66 alignment), you'll see this giant metal sphere out in a farmer's backyard. It is an abandoned 1925 Magnolia Oil Co natural gas storage tank. The first such round steel tank built in an oil field in the world. This area was the site of one of the state's largest oil booms in 1924 and is still a large producer today. The tank is visible on the north side of E0890 Road in Davenport, OK
