Copper State Motel, Ash Fork Arizona

This motel was built in the 1920's. It took 4 years to complete the construction of the 18 inch thick cobblestone walls of the motel units. They were behind the flagstone office in an "L" shape. It was originally called the Copper State Modern Cottages. Not so modern anymore but it looked to be still operating. There was a big yellow neon "Motel" sign at the far end of the parking lot to the motel. The oil drum looking structure under the sign was actually part of the "Grand Canyon Express" train, complete with coal cars. There was also an old claw-foot bathtub under the sign? I wish I would have slowed down to get better pictures. You'll have to drive by and check it out for yourself on Lewis Avenue in Ash Fork, AZ
