This giant blue whale was not built as a Route 66 attraction, but rather as a unique birthday gift that was intended just for family fun. The whale got so much attention, it was turned into a commercial swimming hole. Other attractions were added and it ran until 1988. The whale fell into disrepair, but eventually supporters repaired it and it is now open in the summer on weekends. Probably because it is so symbolic of Route 66, I couldn't wait to see The Big Blue Whale. It is pretty impressive! You'll see it on Route 66 in Catoosa, OK
