No joke, it was Wednesday when I snapped this photo. The Motel Safari was built in 1959 and has maintained it's original neon sign. It used to have yellow orbs on the top of the 3 poles to match the "Doo Wop" style of the building design. The current owners call the camel "Clyde". Such a great tribute to Ray Steven's Clyde from his 60's hit song Ahab the Arab. You can see Clyde on Route 66 in Tucumcari, NM
