The Hinton Junction Cafe and Gas Station's decaying building was one of the more chilling scenes we saw on Route 66. I think the abandoned propane truck adds to it's eerie lonesomeness. Leon and Ann Little opened the station and cafe in 1934 on the day that Route 66 took on it's new alignment past the station at Hinton Junction, and the business closed in 1962 the very day the interstate opened up and Route 66 traffic all but stopped. The Little's just closed up and walked away. The propane truck out front hasn't moved in over 30 years. You can see what's left of their place at the junction of Route 66 and OK-8 highways in Bridgeport, OK
