Along a long stretch of road without much to see, appears this great iconic building. The Tower Conoco Gas Station was built in 1935 and was the most unique gas station we saw along Route 66. The station and adjoining cafe closed in 1997 and the building was in dis-repair until the town restored it in 2003. The buildings creative architecture can be seen in the Disney "Cars" movie as Ramone's automotive shop. You can see it on the corner of North Main Street and Route 66 in Shamrock, TX
