Historic El Rancho Motel Sign, Gallup New Mexico

The sign lights up in bright yellow and red and is beautifully maintained. Many old

western films were filmed in Gallup and when in town, the stars stayed at the El Rancho. Many of the rooms are named for the movie stars that stayed in them; John Wayne, Ronald Regan, Lucille Ball, Errol Flynn, Kirk Douglas, Humphrey Bogard, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy to name a few. The original motel opened in the late 1930's, closed in 1987 and then was restored and re-opened shortly after closing. You can see it on East Highway 66 in Gallup, NM
