Hiway House Motel, Albuquerque New Mexico

This motel was built in 1958 as part of a chain created by Del Webb, co-owner of the New York Yankees, general contractor for mob boss Bugsy Siegel, builder of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and initial key investor of Ramada Inns. He sold off the chain during the 1960's. Most were renamed, some being absorbed by competing chains, but this one is one of the last remaining motels still operating under the original name. The sign, with the old time couple in their model T and the classic logo, is a great example of classic neon signs. You can see for yourself on Central Avenue SE in Albequerque, NM
