Home of the inspiration for Tow Mater, Galena Kansas

Little's Service Station, a Kan-O-Tex station, was originally opened in 1934. The rusty 1951 International Boom truck that sits on the lot was the inspiration for Disney-Pixar's Tow Mater character in the movie "Cars". We were told by a local that an older gentleman who ran the service station had a physical characteristic that allowed him to twist his ankles so it appeared that his boots pointed in the opposite direction and he would pretend that it caused him to walk backwards which is why Tow Mater sometimes drives backward instead of forwards. Not sure if this is true, but it makes a really good story! The restored station is now called Cars on the Route and can be found on North Main Street in Galena, KS
