In my travels on the back roads doing genealogy research, I’ve seen hundreds of remnants of times gone by. These iconic symbols of "Americana" inspired me to create this blog. I wish I had gotten a better picture of the neon sign out front. It is fantastic. This Steak 'n Shake was build in 1962 and much of the interior and exterior remain the same today, including the neon lights on and around the roof and the neon sign. It is on East St Louis Street in Springfield, MO
