Rifle and Powder Horn Neon Sign, Holbrook Arizona

The Plainsman Restaurant is now closed and this great neon sign is sadly gone. The restaurant openend in 1966, the same year as the hollywood remake of the 1936 movie of the same name. I'm hopeful that the sign has been preserved and relocated to one of the Route 66 museums along the route. I truly prefer that the cities along the route take steps to maintain these pieces of American history in their original locations, but the museums are a better alternative than private collectors or destruction.
