In my travels on the back roads doing genealogy research, I’ve seen hundreds of remnants of times gone by. These iconic symbols of "Americana" inspired me to create this blog. Standing 76 feet tall, this giant, called The Golden Driller, was put in place in 1966. He is so tall that he rests his gloved right hand on top of a real Oklahoma oil derrick. He is dedicated to the men of the petroleum industry. You can't miss him on East 21st Street in Tulsa, OK
