The Budville Trading Company, was opened in 1928 by Bud Rice and was the site of several murders in the 1960's and 1970's. Bud himself and a few others were killed here. Some of the deaths occured under unusual and mysterious circumstances. Bud, the town's namesake, was quite the Route 66 entrepenuer. However, according to news articles and at least one book, his business dealings as well as his political endevours were not very scrupulous. Some fun reading if you google it. The trading post was operated by Bud's widow, Flossie Hall, until 1979. You can see it on Route 66, Budville NM
