This old Chevy tow truck sits at Bulger Motor Company. The business has been in operation since 1946. The truck got the nick name "Missouri Mater" as many travelers think that this truck was the inspiration for Disney's Tow Mater (that one sits just down the road). We spoke to the owner, Allen Bulger, for quite a while. We were so grateful for his hospitality and the great Route 66 history and information he gave us! This truck was actually driven by his father for 25 years, towing broken down locals and travelers on Route 66. You can see it on West Main Street in Carterville, MO
