The Welcome Wagon, Needles California

This big borax wagon was once part of the signage for the El Rancho Motel. Borax wagons were used to move borax (a type of salt), dug up at Death Valley, to the railways in the 1880s. They were pulled by teams of eighteen mules and two horses.
