Starting as just a restaurant, you can barely see the faded ghost signage of Tony's Cafe Italian and American Dishes on side of the building. It was constructed out of railroad ties, plastered with stucco and when the Whiting Bros chain added the pumps in the 1950's, it had a wood slat sign over the canopy with the classic red and yellow Whiting Bros sign with shield. But the best part of this little piece of history are the frozen in time pumps. They are Bennet Co. originals that proudly display prices of 33.9 cents for “Super” and 36.9 cents for “Ethyl”. The station is rumored to have been featured in a Hollywood movie as "Dry Creek Station", which was painted on the long gone wooden sign. It's worth a quick stop just to take a peek through the chain link fence to catch a glimpse of a time when 33 cents bought a tank of gas. It's located on County Road 66 outside of Newberry Springs, CA
